Questions and Comments to this Website

From the Uni Hill Principal:
As the principal of University Hill Elementary School, one of my goals is to provide the best possible education for students. Part of doing this requires an appropriate facility. At this point, I am not advocating to stay or sell. What I am asking is for people to request a tour of the building to understand why the possibility of selling the building is an option. Come in and see what we would need to accomplish to bring the best possible facility to our students. BVSD has already investigated this and understands the cost involved in doing so. If BVSD decides not to sell would Uni Hill Neighborhood Association, BNA, and Historic Boulder contribute resources to make this happen?
Call the Uni Hill Main Office to request a tour: 720-561-5416.

Response to the principal's comment:
In response to the Uni Hill Elementary School Principal’s question, I would like to say this:  We, the voters, passed a bond which includes funds for improving Uni Hill Elementary School to meet your needs. - T. M.

I am wondering what the source is for the "9 days until deadline for BVSD to decide on possible sale of Uni Hill campus"? The letter I received as a Uni Hill Elementary parent in March of 2016 from BVSD stated that the bond project was being put on hold with a three to five year time frame anticipated to explore possibilities. Unless I have missed some more current information, the 9 day deadline listed on the unihillschoolfuture.org is misleading. Could you please share your verified source or update the website to provide more accurate information. Thanks!

UniHillSchoolFuture.org response:
Bruce Messinger told the Uni Hill staff on March 7th, 2016 that a decision whether or not to sell Uni Hill to CU would have to happen within a year due to the fact that bond projects needed to resume starting around March of 2017 in order to get back on schedule.  In other words, the school and the district can’t afford more than a one-year delay.

In the absence of a more specific timeline from BVSD, we have used Dr. Messinger’s statement as a guideline for when the district would make its decision.  Better communication from the district on the Uni Hill/NewVista/CU issue would render this kind of interpolation, and indeed this website, unnecessary. On November 28th, 2016  Dr. Messinger was specifically asked by members of the Boulder City Council to allay public concerns about the CU-Uni Hill sale by creating a website to communicate the district’s proposals and timeline for action. Nothing appears to have come of that, however. If you are aware of a line of communication between BVSD and the public on this matter, please let us know so we can direct people there.
